Food

Hola

A lot have been asking about what I eat. So I am making a whole page only about what I'm eating here in Ecuador...

Breakfast:
For breakfast I eat fruit, bread or cereals with milk... I like the breakfast because its the same as in Denmark.

                        Where I buy fruit.

                          Hot litchi drink.

Lunch:
For lunch I have a warm (big) meal and it's often rice with something else...
Its our housekeeper who makes lunch for me. She also makes fresh juice everyday. I've tried so many that I only remember orange, limo, strew berry, papaya, litchi and apple juice. She is a very nice lady!
They eat popcorn to everything. I think it's a little strange, because I think that it's something you eat in the cinema, but here in Ecuador it's normal to eat with your food as a salad. When they eat salad or corn they just have one big bowl on the table and then they just take their fork or spoon and eat from the bowl as if it were their plate.

As you can see there is a lot of rice... I often get soup as a starter.

                   Juice! In Spanish jugo...

Dinner:
For dinner is very different what I eat. Sometimes we eat out and sometimes we just eat the leftovers from lunch. Often we also just eat bread with different cheeses and sausages.
After dinner we always get tea. I can tell you that in Ecuador they use a lot of sugar in their tea!

                      Homemade pizza.

A really good cake called Tango.

                         ... More cake.

Some food my classmates eat and again    popcorn?

A Good Day

Hi :-)

I have had the best day so fare in Ecuador.
First of all it was my first school day and I was so nerves! I am the only blonde girl in the school and everybody are looking. There are only one girl in my class who speaks English, she is really nice and she translate everything for me. She introduced me to her friends, they are all really sweet. They have already asked me if I haven't to hangout with them after school. There are 35 in my class and only 10 of them are boys.
Everyone tells me all the time how pretty I am and that I have beautiful blue eyes. The girl who speak english even told me that some of the boys from other classes,  think that I'm pretty. Of course it makes me very happy and flattered, but I still don't know how to react...

Later my host mom came home and asked me if I wanted to go with her to the award ceremony of  Reina del Yamor. It was really cool.
After the show I spoke to some different people and one of them is a very sweet guy called Edd. Edd speaks very well English because he has been in Australian for a year. He is the brother of on of the reians. While I was speaking to Edd this really nice man came to say goodbye to me. I have talk with the man plenty times before, but I have never got the chances to ask who he is - which is my luck, because I asked Edd who the man is and Edd told me that he is the major of Otavalo... So now I know who he is and I can tell you that the major of Otavalo is a very nice man. I also talked with two other girls from Reinas Del Yamor. They are two very sweet girls. They gave me their number and told me to call them when ever I want to hangout.

After a long day we finally had dinner...

Reinas Del Yamor

Hola Amigos

Now I'm going to tell you guys about Reinas Del Yamor.
First of all I had a really good time and it was amazing (again).
Because my mom is the director of Otavalo, we had really good sits. First of all you need tickets to see the show and second you need to have special tickets to sit where we sat. We where to rows behind the judges. Our chairs were covered with a white chair blanket and it had a blue bow around it - very nice.

It was a huge show with light, dance, live music and singing. All the girls who participated in the competition had these big dresses on with a lot of glitter. They smile and waved to everyone.

There were more than 30 dancer, who went crazy to Elvis, Abba, Britney Spears and many other artist. It was fun and the atmosphere was fantastic. Otavalo knows how to throw a party.

Our chairs, the judges and the host.
The opening dance and the girls.
                 The girls are dancing.
My host mom is the lady in purple.
And the winner of Reinas Del Yamor.

- Sorry for the poor quality.

Fiesta Del Yamor

Hola

So yesterday I was at Fiesta Del Yamor and it was amazing. I had such a good time there.

Fiesta Del Yamor is an annual party/festival in Ecuador.

The hole thing starts with a big parade. It was fun, cool and amazing. There was  loud music, dance, singing, firework, confetti and happy people.
All the dancing people had beautiful and so colerful costumes on. They smiled and used their hips like I have never seen before. There was original- cowboy- step- and Brazilian- dance. There wasn't a dance they didn't dance...
A lot of them played the music them self and sang as they danced.
There was also a torchlight procession.
And of course there was all Reinas Del Yamor driving in big cars that was decked with flowers.
Reinas Del Yamor are going to be selected today. When she is selected she will be the queen of Otavalo on till nexts year where a new will be chosen.

After the parade I went to a party with my host brother and his friends, it was really funny, we all danced and had a good time.

Just Another Day

Hola

So my host mom is the director of Otavalo, my host city - and that is pretty cool!
Right now she is planning the biggest festival/party of the year here in Otavalo.
The festival/party starts tomorrow.
It's called Fiesta Del Yamor 2013.
Today I went to work with her. She does all this really cool things because she is the director.

Today I also was together with my private Spanish teacher. Her name is Rosa and she is really sweet! Of course she teaches me Spanish, but she also shows me around in Otavalo.
