26-29/09 || 4 Days With Arnetta ||

Hola

I have been together with Arnetta and her host family for the last four days.
Arnetta is the other girl in my Rotary club. She lives in Ibarra.

Thursday:
I didn't have to go to school because it was a national day in Ecuador for those with better grades in school...

Instead of school Arnetta and her host mom pick me up in Otavalo and together we drove to Ibarra.
First we tried this really good ice cream that is natural made.
After that me and Arnetta whet out on our own in Ibarra. We walked a lot and saw a market.

Then we had lunch and after that we went to the lake and sailed in a swan boat. It was really pretty! (The view and not the boat)

Then it was time to get home to Otavalo.
But before that my host dad and Arnetta's host mom made that deal that I would go with Arnetta and her family to Quito in the weekend.
Who can say no to that?

Friday:
I was supposed to be pick up 11:00 but as usual Ecuadorian people are never on time...
Finally 13:00 was they here and off we went to Quito.
We went shopping ❤

I had a Cinnamon Roll for the first time

Saturday:
Already 10:00 and on time, drove we to Cumbayá.
We stopped at a big shopping center. More shopping. We found a place with wifi and silence took over... Lunch and then we went to the cinema and saw Elysium - Good movie in English!

Kids Menu <3

Popcorn for the cinema and not for soup!

We stayed at Arnetta's host fathers brothers house. Really nice neighborhood.

In the evening Arnetta and me went back to Quito because we were going to a party with all the orther exchange students who lives in Quito. I had a really good time, mostly because it is nice to hangout with other people who doesn't fit in, just like me...
On of the Danish girls Sofie was also at the party and it was nice to talk Danish and laugh at the same weird things. I miss Danish humor!

Before the party...

But I have realist that there is some words in Danish that can't be translate to English and some of the words are really useful...

15-19/09 || Mompiche ||

Hola

The last 4 days have I spent in Mompiche. I have had so much fun the last few days.

I was together with all the exchange students here in Ecuador.

It was paradise, we lived on this really nice resort called Decameron. It was out to the ocean. The resort had 5 pools, 4 restaurants, lots for bars, a stage, a disco, a private beach island and a cinema, but the best was that everything was free! We shared rooms two and two. I lived together with Bridget from Canada and in the room beside us was Jenna from Canada and Helen from Chicago. We opened the door between us and shared the two rooms.

This trip was our language camp, so we study Spanish every day. It was hard to study in the heat, but I did learn something.

It was so nice to meet all the exchange students and talk to someone who knows how you feel. Everybody is so nice. I finale also got to meet the to people in my rotary club in Ibarra, Arnetta from US and Lucas from Germany.
Every night saw we the show on the stage, it was amazing. The dancers was so good, and the costumes was so pretty. After went we to the disco and danced.

Every little thing the last few days have just been stunning...

14/09 || Cascada ||

Hola

Today has been a wonderful day with many impressions.

The girls from my school asked me if I wanted to go with them to a waterfall near Otavalo. Actually it is The Waterfall, because the waterfall has a history... Back in the old days came the original people and sacrificed near the waterfall, so today it's holy water! If the waterfall "spits" on you, you will have luck for a whole year...

We met 10 a clock at Diana's mom and dad's café/bar. We needed to take a taxi to get to the waterfall.

First we saw the largest waterfall and then we went to a smaller one. To get to the little waterfall were we forced to curl through a very small and quite dark tunnel. Creepy...

Then we jumped in to the water with shoes and clothes on.

       Bad picture but it was so funny

            Holy water and sweet girls.

Then we went back to Otavalo and ate lunch.

05-08/9 || Playa ||

Hola

The last four days have I spend on the beach...

My host dad pick me up from school thursday and told me that I have to pack a bag, because my counselor would pick me up in about one hour and take me to the beach with him and his family.
I was quite confused!

It takes about 4 hours to get there but it's a really nice place, so the long road trip doesn't matter.

         The view from our apartment.

My counselor is a really nice man and so is his family. He has a wife and 3 children. The oldest is a girl, Ariana. Ariana's host sister from Germany (where she was with rotary from 3 years ago) was also with us because she now lives with Ariana here in Ecuador - Sweet story. The next day did more family arrived. Also really nice people!

It was really hot and we bathed the whole Friday. In the evening we all went to a beach bar. We drank beer, danced and we all had fun. I still have to get used to  how they dance and the music they listen to, but I'm really starting to like it.

              Dinner Friday night! <3

             The bar before the party...

Saturday we took action! I tried Jet Ski and a Tube. It was really funny!
In the evening we again went to a beach bar and had fun, this time it was only the young people.

Ps. I am already going to the beach again sunday, but this time to Mompiche beach... <3
