Fiesta Del Yamor

Hola

So yesterday I was at Fiesta Del Yamor and it was amazing. I had such a good time there.

Fiesta Del Yamor is an annual party/festival in Ecuador.

The hole thing starts with a big parade. It was fun, cool and amazing. There was  loud music, dance, singing, firework, confetti and happy people.
All the dancing people had beautiful and so colerful costumes on. They smiled and used their hips like I have never seen before. There was original- cowboy- step- and Brazilian- dance. There wasn't a dance they didn't dance...
A lot of them played the music them self and sang as they danced.
There was also a torchlight procession.
And of course there was all Reinas Del Yamor driving in big cars that was decked with flowers.
Reinas Del Yamor are going to be selected today. When she is selected she will be the queen of Otavalo on till nexts year where a new will be chosen.

After the parade I went to a party with my host brother and his friends, it was really funny, we all danced and had a good time.

(I would love to show you some photos, but they are all taking with my phone, and it was dark and the people where moving so, all my photos are really bad.)

Just Another Day

Hola

So my host mom is the director of Otavalo, my host city - and that is pretty cool!
Right now she is planning the biggest festival/party of the year here in Otavalo.
The festival/party starts tomorrow.
It's called Fiesta Del Yamor 2013.
Today I went to work with her. She does all this really cool things because she is the director.

Today I also was together with my private Spanish teacher. Her name is Rosa and she is really sweet! Of course she teaches me Spanish, but she also shows me around in Otavalo.

      The pictures are from yesterday...

         The pictures are from today...

The first few days

Hola

I have already been in Ecuador for 3 full days and a lot has happen!

The moment I averred to Quito airport my head just went crazy. One hour latter I finely had my suitcases and I was ready to go out and meet my family!
And there they were with the biggest smile, Mom, dad and daughter...
It's really hard to talk with/to them because they don't speak English and I don't speak Spanish... But they try their best and so do I.
After the airport we drove to this really nice restaurant where we sad and eat on the water. The food was really good!

Later that day we had to pick the big brother up at the airport as well, he can speak English and translate everything.

Next day I sleep all most the hole day... I was so tried.
When I woke up Karla had a friend over. Karla is going to France on her exchange.
Same day later I went to a bar with all Karla's friends. They are all really sweet and try to speak English :-)

Thursday we went to the airport to say goodbye to Karla, it was sad!

Yesterday I went to Quito with my host brother and some of his friends! We shopped and went to a bar.

This is all the girls going to Ecuador

It's to tomorrow!

I can't believe that it's tomorrow? Everything has happened so fast.
From the application, to the meetings, to packing... Now, it is now! Wow
I don't know whether if I'm the most nervous or excited?

The last few days have I spent on saying "I'll see you, in a year" to my family and friends. I think it is important to remember that it isn't a "goodbye", but a "see you soon"... But it is still tough!

I have so many thoughts in my head right now
But you know...

Love
Btw. next time I write in here, will I be in Ecuador!!

To those who has never packed to a year...
